For Stop 6 of the USA BMX Freestyle Series, Nikita Ducarroz and Matty Cranmer hosted a Mongoose Am Jam at The Hangar Park in Denver, North Carolina! This indoor park had an old school feel too it, but the riding was top-notch with all the latest moves being thrown down.
For the younger kids, we started with a classic game of foot-down where the winner is the last rider on their bike without putting a foot down. It wasn’t easy because you had each rider trying to knock the other off, and Matty and Nikita were also in the mix!
After that Matty had the riders trying weird and different tricks. Some riders left with prizes donated by Merritt BMX, and everyone left with huge smiles from all the fun!
For the older class Matty came up with the idea to start the jam off with a box jump contest. The catch…you couldn't actually clear the box! You had to either do a fly out trick, a lip trick, or jump off the top of the box. Some awesome things went down from everyone thinking outside the box…or not…jumping the box…jump.
The final jam was a wallride jam in honor of Pat Casey! Pat visited The Hangar with the Mongoose team a few years back and had a great time riding that wallride, so it made sense to have a jam on it. Everyone took the spirit of Pat and threw-down some big moves off the wall. It was Dominick Secatello who had the banger of the day with a massive tailwhip out of the wallride and topped it off by throwing a barspin in right before he landed! I’m not sure if this has been done before, but it was amazing!
