Last month, Mongoose and the USA BMX Foundation had their brands showcased in a unique place they never thought of… plastered all over a NASCAR truck moving 80 mph on Bristol Motor Speedway! This collab with NASCAR driver Jack Wood and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing (MHR) Team wouldn’t have been complete without someone fast in his own right – Enter Mongoose BMX pro Cam Wood (no relation to Jack), who’s known as one of the fastest riders on a BMX bike. What ensued was three days of bikes, NASCAR, and fun with young fans.
To kick off Day 1 the right way, Mongoose decided to do a fun promo with Cam and his teammate Mason Hayes. Like the Mongoose print ads of the 70s & 80s, the two jumped over Jack’s No. 91 Mongoose / USA BMX Foundation Chevrolet Silverado RST! With help from the Chain Reaction Action Sports show jump set-up, the boys cleared it with ease even though the take-off was a little steeper than the jump-lips they’re used to at the BMX track.
On Day 2, the crew met up with Brooke Crain from the USA BMX Foundation at Avoca Elementary School in Bristol for a surprise school assembly. Alongside Jack and MHR, Cam, Mason and Brooke spoke to students about the hard work and dedication it takes to be a top performer both on the track and in the classroom. Of course they couldn’t end the visit without jumping their BMX bikes over a few obstacles for the kids! After the school assembly, NASCAR rolled out the red carpet for Team Mongoose giving them the full Bristol experience on two wheels! The visit included a guided tour from Jack, laps around the track on BMX bikes, and some quality time sharing about the similarities between the two sports.
Day 3 was main event – Race Day with Jack Wood! Team Mongoose was in pit road to watch Jack debut his No. 91 Mongoose / USA BMX Foundation Chevy for an intense 200 lap race on the “World’s Fastest Half Mile”. It was an exciting race, and Jack gave it his all in his show-stopping Mongoose truck. A one point in the race, Jack got spun out when another vehicle bumped his No. 91, but he recovered nicely without hitting the wall and finished in 26th position. Although it wasn’t the finish he wanted, his spin out was replayed a ton and Mongoose and the Foundation were on full display for the NASCAR crowd that night.
Thank you to Clear28, MHR Racing, and the Hayes family for making this collab a reality!
