Team Mongoose Gets the Job Done at USA BMX Gator Nationals

Kevin Garczynski

USA BMX Gator Nationals at Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track??  Now that doesn’t make sense. Well, after Hurricane Milton ravaged Florida, USA BMX had no choice but to move the national race event 568 miles north from Oldsmar to Rock Hill, South Carolina. The iconic track is not a bad back-up if you ask anyone in BMX!

Mongoose pro BMXer Mason Hayes wins at Gator National

Regardless of where Gator Nationals was taking place, you know Mongoose is showing up to represent and show up the team did.  Our 15-Expert Mason Hayes is pretty much a local at this track, living not too far away in North Carolina. On Day 1 Mason made the mains and finished a solid 5th. Day 2 he moved to the podium and took an impressive 2nd. But wait –That’s not all.  Mason saved his best for last and won both 15-16 Open and 15 Expert on Day 3!  Well done, Mason.

Mongoose BMX pro Payton Ridenour at Gator National

Payton “P-Nut” Ridenour was ready to race that weekend!  On both Day 1 and Day 2 she came out of the gate hot and was on the heels of USA World Champion Alise Wiloughby. As they pulled away from the pack, Payton couldn’t get the pass, but she held off the rest of the field landing 2nd place both days. That’s nothing to scoff at!  Payton said, “It was a smooth and consistent weekend, definitely can’t complain! Thank you to the Hayes’ for the hospitality, and the rest of my team for being so awesome.”

Mongoose BMX pro Cam Wood wins at Gator Nationals

For the man they call the ‘Cowboy’, Cam Wood has been on a mission lately. He showed up ready to saddle his Mongoose Title Team and get the show on the road!  On Day 1 Cam came out of the gate strong taking the lead around the first turn, earning himself the Holeshot award.  But in turn two, he got passed and while he almost made it up in the last straight Cam had to settle for 3rd.  He was followed by his Mongoose teammate, newly turned pro Jordan Callum in 4th position.

On Day 2 you knew Cam wasn’t settled for 3rd place.  He came out of the gate hot once again, but Kam Larsen was out in front until the last straight where Wood got his pump game on and squeaked by Kam at the last second to take the win!  You simply can’t count him out of a race!  Cam was happy with his result saying, “It felt good to get the job done on day two and have a shot at this thing in Tulsa!  See you all in a few weeks.”
