Madison, WI – April 1, 2019 - Mongoose, a brand of Dorel Industries, Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), announced today their professional BMX freestyle team is heading to Source Park in Hastings, UK on May 18th to host the brand’s first annual Mongoose Am Jam. The event – which will feature American riders Pat Casey, Kevin Peraza and Nikita Ducarroz, and UK riders Greg Illingworth, Ben Wallace, and Cam Peake – will give local youth the chance to meet, ride with, and learn tricks from the Mongoose team.
Since 2012, Mongoose has hosted an annual Jam event at Camp Woodward in Woodward, Pennsylvania. These Jam events bring together the Mongoose team and their peers in BMX, for an authentic blend of camaraderie and competition. To keep with the tradition of the previous Jam events, the Am Jam will also feature Jam-style sessions with Source Park BMX amateurs where they can show off their skills for prizes and awards from Mongoose pros.
“The Mongoose Am Jam is the next evolution with our events,” said Mongoose Team Manager Leigh Ramsdell. “While the Mongoose Jams have always had an amateur element, the Am Jam is more focused on up and coming riders to help grow the sport. Our athletes will all be there checking out the new riders and offering up any advice to advance their riding. We’re super pumped to bring a jam to Source Park and create some excitement for BMX in the UK!”
The all-day Am Jam event will be split into two sessions: a morning clinic with young riders, who will get to meet the pros, ride Mongoose bikes, and have the chance to win prizes; while the afternoon session will be a contest for local amateurs by age bracket for awards/prizes from the Mongoose team. The day will finish off with a Pro demo from the Mongoose athletes.
“I can’t wait to have the Mongoose team in Hastings riding and hanging out at my local spots,” Mongoose Pro Greg Illingworth commented. “I know all the kids and Ams are going to lose their minds when they see the whole team ripping at Source. There’s nothing better than a jam to bring riders together for a good time.”
