Dirtyfest 2 was one for the books! Where do I even begin! I’ll start with, the 2nd Annual Dirtyfest Bicycle Reunion, which was held once again at Vail Lake KOA in Temecula, CA. This year’s event was bigger, and more action packed then the year before. The events of the weekend included a vintage BMX race, a kick turn contest, vintage bike show, swap meet, foot-down contest, mini (16”) pit-bike race, and a flatland comp.
The race was held on a kind of era correct BMX track made by Eric (EC) Carter and his crew. The track was a step up from last years with a few more obstacles and an actual berm, but still with vintage style meaning; bumpy, dusty, dirty and sketchy! It made for some amazing elbows out / foot out racing. There were twice as many entries in this year’s event so there was a good amount of motos to run through. Bikes from all across the ages were in the show and even wilder on the track. Lots of characters from BMX were in attendance from the creator of Radical Rick, Damian Fulton to Gary “The Lumberjack” Ellis. There were so many big names in BMX that I think next year they need to make name tags!
Shout out to everyone who came out this year and spun the Motomag Swag Wheel and won a prize or a Hi-Five! Till next year, thank you to “Hollywood” Mike Miranda and the whole Dirtyfest Crew! I can only imagine how amazing Dirtyfest 3 will be. Can’t wait until 2026! Make your plans now!
